What Are Glyph Alerts

Your notifications, as glyph art on the back of your phone. Pick what fires it, pick the design, done. The right notification lights up the Glyph Matrix on its own. No app open, no buttons.

What You Need

  1. A supported Nothing Phone. Alerts play on the Glyph Matrix, so you need a Phone 3 or Phone 4a Pro. You can still build alerts on other phones, they just have no matrix to show them on.
  2. Notification Access. Open the Notifications screen, tap Grant access on the banner, and enable Glyph Museum in system settings. This lets the app read incoming notifications to match them.
  3. A free slot. 2 alerts on the free tier, unlimited for Supporters.

Your notifications stay private

Matching runs entirely on your phone. Glyph Museum never uploads your notifications, their contents, or who they're from. It reads them only to decide which alert, if any, lights up.

Create an Alert

Open the Notifications screen (the bell) and tap +. Fill in the sections, name it, save:

  1. Trigger. Which notifications fire it: apps, contacts, keywords, or a mix.
  2. Design. The art to show: any Frame or Save.
  3. Style. Speed, loop, and effects.
  4. Show on matrix. How long it plays.
  5. Behaviour. Priority and Do Not Disturb.

Triggers: When It Fires

Three ways to narrow down which notifications count. Mix and match.

apps

Apps

Only notifications from the apps you pick. WhatsApp, your bank, a delivery app, anything installed.

person

Contacts

Only when a sender's name shows up. "Whenever Mom messages," whatever app she uses.

match_word

Keywords

Only when the message contains a word you choose, like OTP or delivered.

text_fields Case-insensitive schedule Newest message only
WhatsApp and from "Mom" and says "urgent" → fires

Every filter you set has to match (AND). Within one filter, any entry counts (list three apps and any of them works). Leave a filter empty to ignore it, so an alert with just an app set fires on everything from that app.

Pick the Design

Any Frame or Save becomes the art, static or animated. Tune it in Style: animation speed, loop direction (forward, reverse, ping-pong), Rotate, Invert, and horizontal or vertical flip. Live preview as you go.

How Long It Shows

Set this under Show on matrix.

repeat

Count

Plays a set number of times, then clears itself. Loops for animations, seconds for static art. A quick heads-up that gets out of the way.

timer Auto-clears
lock

Until unlock

Stays lit until you pick up and unlock, so you can't miss it face down. Already using your phone when it lands? It flashes briefly instead, since there's nothing to unlock.

lock_open_right Clears on unlock

Swiping the notification away clears the glyph too, anytime.

Behaviour

Two switches for how an alert acts around your other notifications.

star

High priority

When two alerts could fire for the same notification, this one wins. It also cuts in front of an alert that's already showing. For the things you never want to miss.

bolt Wins ties, interrupts
do_not_disturb_on

Respect Do Not Disturb

Stays dark while Do Not Disturb is on. Turn it off and the alert breaks through even in DND, for the few things that always should.

Good to Know

schedule

Plays after Nothing's glyph. Your phone's built-in notification glyph flashes first, then your alert takes over. No clash.

format_list_numbered

One at a time. A burst plays in sequence, and a high-priority alert jumps the line.

do_not_disturb_on

Easy to clear. Unlock your phone or swipe the notification away.

bolt

Runs in the background. Alerts fire even with Glyph Museum closed, on the same lightweight service the Glyph effects use. Barely any battery, and nothing runs when no alert is on screen.

What's Next

Now that your notifications glow, here's where to go next:
